Brother Nathan Mayfield's First
Sunday as our New Pastor
We
had a good turnout for Brother Nathan Mayfield's first Sunday as
our pastor (8-Jan-23). Brother Mayfield's sermon was titled,
"The Shepherd of You Soul." Scripture for the sermon was from
Psalm 23. The sermon was a very meaning look at one of the
world's most widely known passages in The Bible. The choir got
the church service rolling with a rousing rendition of "Look
What The Lord Has Done." After the service, we our regular
monthly business meeting was conducted. Please join us in
welcoming and prayer for Bro. Nathan and Pam as they begin their
service for The Lord here at Dover Baptist Church. Let's all
make them feel as welcome as long time members! To see more from
the service, please visit our

Dover Baptist Church Forced to

On Sunday, December 25th, services were cancelled due to
terrible weather being experienced in Shelby County and
throughout the region. The temperatures were in negative range
and the parking lot was like a crusty skating rink. In order to
keep everyone safe on this most special day for Christians, the
deacons made the decision to cancel services. We hope you had a
great time sharing Christmas with your family and friends. Stay
safe and Merry Christmas! |

Dover
Baptist Votes Overwhelmingly to Call Bro. Mayfield
On Sunday, December 11, 2022, Dover Baptist Church held their
normal Sunday worship service which was a great one lead by our
interim pastor, Bro. Bradley Gray. At the conclusion of the
service, we had our normal monthly business meeting. This
meeting however, was more important than normal. We had two BIG
issues to address. One, would we call Bro. Nathan Mayfield to be
our pastor? Two, we needed to adopt/no adopt our 2023 budget for
the church. After a wonderful sermon with lots of good music,
the business meeting took place. Each attendee was given a paper
ballot to vote Yes or No for Bro. Mayfield. The votes were then
turned in and counted by Pulpit Committee chair/deacon, Greg
Bell and church secretary, Charlotte White. Bro. Nathan Mayfield
was overwhelmingly called to be our next pastor. The 2023 budget
was also approved. Please pray for Bro. Nathan and Pam as the
begin their service with Dover Baptist Church. Bro. Mayfield
will assume the pulpit on January 8, 2023. To see more, click

to hear Brother Mayfield preach. Later that day, the church
hosted a question and answers session in the sanctuary followed
by a social in the Family Life Center. To see more of what went

Retirement
At
the end of the worship service, on Sunday, March 7, 2022, Bro.
Ben Early announced he would be retiring as the pastor at Dover
Baptist Church. This took everyone by surprise! We were blessed
to have Bro. Ben and Gloria for just shy of 9 years. During
their tenure as our church leaders, the church has accomplished
many great things. Attendance soared to 100 per week before the
pandemic hit. We paid off the Family Life Center. Added a
beautiful steeple to the church building. Carpeted the church.
Built the Prayer Garden. Added a great worship leader and youth
leaders to our staff. Many lives have been changed and many
souls have been saved by their many years in the ministry. We
wish Ben and Gloria the best for whatever their next endeavors
involve in this life. We thank them for their dedicated service
and friendship as well. It's sad they are leaving us, but, in
this life, there is always change. Bro. Ben's last service will
be March 27, 2022.
2
Timothy 4:7-8 (NIV) I have fought the good fight, I have
finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store
for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
Judge, will award to me on that day–and not only to me, but also
to all who have longed for his appearing." Thank you for
finishing your "race" with us! Best wishes..... |

High Attendance Sunday Dinner
On
Sunday, February 27th, the church celebrated High Attendance
Sunday. The emphasis in February for the church was to get as
many people to show up for Sunday School and church as possible.
Weather it is the Corona Virus, the weather, or general apathy,
the crowds didn't show up as we had hoped. Those who did show up
enjoyed a very nice lunch after the worship service. To see more
of the photos from the luncheon, click the photo at left. |

Tribute Quartet
Entertains and Inspires!
On Friday night,
January 21, 2022, the Tribute Quartet held a concert, at Dover
Baptist Church, that started at 7:00 PM. 89 people were in
attendance on this cold January night. Those that showed up were
treated to some really great Gospel Music and a really fun time!
They sang, they played, they had some comic relief and they also
witnessed. If you missed this performance, you really missed
out! Brother Bradley was the emcee for the concert and he
participated with the group on one number. After the show, they
moved over to the Family Life Center to meet the audience and to
sell some of their CDs and merchandise. To see more, click the
