Church Starts Out Dark, Send the
Light!
On
Sunday morning, May 7, 2023, Dover Baptist Church was blacked
out due to a strong storm that rolled through in the morning
hours. The power was off for Sunday School and most of the
worship service. The service went off just fine thanks to some
old time religion, a non-electric piano, Holy Bibles and the
hymnals. We still had light enough to use the hymnals to sing
and the preacher delivered a fine sermon from the Book of Acts.
Bradley and Lana both took turns playing the piano. Then,
miraculously, during Bro. Mayfield's sermon, the lights came on.
Did I mention that our call to worship that Sunday was, "Send
The Light?" Well, The Lord did. Click to see it. |

Youth
Pastor Steps Down
At the conclusion of morning worship on Sunday, April 23, 2023,
Bro. Michael Welch announced that he would be stepping down
as the youth minister at Dover Baptist Church, with his last day
being Wednesday, April 26th. He felt that in his heart that it
was time to leave and pursue whatever The Lord has for him and
Patty in the next phase of their Christian lives. We wish them
both well as they depart from our church. |

We had some great special music by the choir. Bro. Mayfield
preached on "The Stone Was Rolled Away." from Luke 24:1-12. To

Prayer Meeting/Bible Study is
Growing Steadily
We
have been having some great prayer meetings and Bible study on
Wednesday nights. We are getting around 30 people to attend
weekly. We go through the Prayer List and pray for those in need
of prayer, we add/subtract to it based on outcomes. After prayer
meeting, we discuss the previous Sunday's sermon in depth. Here
you can ask any questions you have about the texts we have
covered. You can also go through the reflection questions on the
back of each Sunday's bulletin. In order to be better
Christians, we must know more about God's Word. The meeting is
very casual so come as you are. You'll be glad you did.

Dover Baptist Church Gets
New/Updated Sign
Recently,
our old church sign was replaced with a brand new, metal one.
The new sign should hold up much better than its predecessor
which was made of wood. The service times have also been updated
on the sign along with our new pastor, Bro. Nathan Mayfield. A
BIG thank you to everyone who made this happen. It really looks
good and hopefully will help us draw some new folks to our
lovely, historic and friendly church!

Brother Nathan Mayfield's First
Sunday as our New Pastor
We
had a good turnout for Brother Nathan Mayfield's first Sunday as
our pastor (8-Jan-23). Brother Mayfield's sermon was titled,
"The Shepherd of You Soul." Scripture for the sermon was from
Psalm 23. The sermon was a very meaning look at one of the
world's most widely known passages in The Bible. The choir got
the church service rolling with a rousing rendition of "Look
What The Lord Has Done." After the service, we our regular
monthly business meeting was conducted. Please join us in
welcoming and prayer for Bro. Nathan and Pam as they begin their
service for The Lord here at Dover Baptist Church. Let's all
make them feel as welcome as long time members! To see more from
the service, please visit our
