Carols and Candles Service

Sunday night, December 17, 2017. After the Carols and Candles service, everyone was invited to the Family Life Center to see the unveiling of a painting by Velma White that will grace the baptistery from here on. It is a painting she had been working on of the River Jordan. Her husband Jimmy helped with the reveal. Brother Ben was the emcee. To see more of what went on click on the photo at left.

 
Christmas Drama at Dover

On Sunday morning, December 17th, 2017 Dover Baptist Church was the site of the Christmas Drama, "A Miracle of Love." The drama was part theatre and part musical. Both were oriented about Christmas and love during the holiday season. Some carolers come upon a non-Christian and manage to change her heart forever.To see some more of the service, click the photo at left.

 
Baptist Men's Christmas Dinner

On Saturday evening, December 16, the Dover Baptist Men and their wives met at Our Best in Smithfield to have a nice Christmas Dinner. Twenty two people (22) attended and from the looks of the photographs, everyone must have had a great time! Take a look for yourself and see!

WMU Christmas Party

The WMU had their annual Christmas Dinner, Tuesday night, December 12th starting at 7:00 PM. The dinner was held at Catering By Kate at 934 Main with over 20 women attending. From the pics, it looks like everyone had a great time. (Photos courtesy of Charlotte White).

 
Dover Baptist Deacon Christmas Party

Here are some photos from the Deacon's Christmas Dinner hosted by Ben and Gloria. The party was held on Friday, December 8th at 6:30 at the Family Life Center. There was a great meal served along with games and music. A good time was had by all!

 
2017 Youth Christmas Party

On Sunday afternoon, December 10, 2017, the church held its annual Youth Christmas Party at the Family Life Center. The Lighting of the 2nd Advent Candle

On Sunday morning, December 10, 2107, Dover Baptist Church celebrated the lighting of the second Advent Candle by the Jerry and Joyce Lancaster Family. There was also some very special music provided by The Porta children (Gracie and Nick) and their mother Kim. They sang a beautiful version of I Surrender All. Janet Say also performed a monologue on the true meaning of Christmas.

 

 
Lighting the First Advent Candle

On Sunday morning, December 3, 2107, Dover Baptist Church celebrated the lighting of the first Advent Candle by the Jimmy and Velma White Family. This year grandparents and grandchildren will be lighting the candles. The Advent wreath, four candles on a wreath of evergreen, is shaped in a perfect circle to symbolize the eternity of God.

 
Dover Baptist Celebrates Thanksgiving

Our church's Thanksgiving Dinner held on Sunday night, November 12th at 6:00 PM. The meal was held in our Family Life Center which had been beautifully decorated by church volunteers. We had 60-70 people on a night when the weather could have been a lot better. Despite the cold and rain, a great meal was shared in an atmosphere of Christian brotherhood. If you missed it, we hope to see you next time. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family for all that God has blessed us with!

 
Dover Exceeds Operation Christmas Child Goal!

The OCC Packing Party was held at the Family Life Center on Sunday evening, November 5, 2017. The party started at 5:00 PM and 21 people showed up to work. Kelli Carper was the organizer. The church's goal was to have 100 shoeboxes and we surpassed that goal with 106! Great job everybody that helped to make this Christmas happier for some poor child. It wasn't all work and no play. There was pizza and cold sodas for everyone and a movie to boot! To see what went on, click on the completed shoeboxes.
 

 
5th Sunday Sing at Mt. Pleasant

Sunday evening, October, 29, 2017, choirs from Mt. Pleasant, Dover Baptist and Burks Branch Baptist Churches participated in the October 5th Sunday Sing. The event was hosted by Mt. Pleasant in their beautiful and historic church. There was a good crowd who were treated with some great Gospel music. Afterwards, there was a nice meal where everyone could get together and chat. Fall Festival 2017

The 2017 Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat held at Dover Baptist Church was a great success! We had over 120 people in attendance. The weather was perfect for the kids to come out and play. There was plenty of fun for kids and adults alike. Lots of good food and conversation too. There was a hayride later in the evening and the kids had s'mores around a bonfire. Dover Baptist Roundup Sunday

Sunday October 1, 2017 was the kickoff of Roundup Month by having Roundup Sunday where everyone was encouraged to wear their western duds and to bring someone with you to church. We did not make our goal of 40 for Sunday School (we had 36) but we did reach our goal of 80 for church! Great job everyone! Wayne Miller Retires as Music Director After 35 Years

On Sunday, August 13, 2017 Bro. Ben Early presented retiring music director, Wayne Miller with a nice plaque and a golf club for his 35 years of service with Dover Baptist Church. To see some photos from the presentation click on the plaque photo at left.

 

Dover Holds Note Burning Ceremony

 

On Sunday, 7-Aug-2017, Dover Baptist Church held a note burning ceremony at the 11:00 AM worship service. This was to celebrate the early paying off of the loan on the Family Life Center. There was lots to celebrate with a lot of singing and the actual burning at the end of the service. To see some photographs and a video of the burning click on the photo at left. Enjoy!

Vacation Bible School 2017

This year's Vacation Bible School (VBS) was held July 10th through the 14th with the graduation ceremony on Sunday the 16th. Attendance was down a bit this year but everyone still had a great experience that showed up.  The kids got to do a lot of fun things, had some great food and learned about Jesus and His love from them. Vickie Anderson was the director of VBS this year. Her and her helpers did a lot of work and did a great job! To see more, click the photo at left.

 
Work Day Summer 2017

Saturday morning, July 8, 2017 was designated as "Work Day" where members of the church were encouraged to come out and work on a variety of cleaning and maintenance chores around the grounds. The volunteers were blessed with a gorgeous day for Work Day. Twenty four people turned out to help clean, do maintenance and spruce up our church. After working all morning, folks were treated to a nice lunch featuring pizza. To see more of what went on, click on the photo at left.

 
Dover Baptist Celebrates the 4th!

On Sunday morning, July 2, 2017, Dover Baptist Church celebrated our nation's Independence Day at the morning worship service. Our church was nicely decorated for the Independence Day Celebration. We sang a variety of patriotic songs. Honored all the armed services of our nation, had a couple of guest speakers, and great sermon from our pastor and concluded with The Lord's Supper. Youth Paint the Family Life Center

A team of young people from Morristown Baptist Church in Tennessee helped our church by painting the main area of the Family Life Center and it's doors and racings. They spent three and a half days working on it. They worked every morning from 9:30 to 12:00. Their youth pastor was in charge of the group. His name is Rob Walters. He is the son of Bob Walters of Shelbyville. Great job!!!! To see more of what went on, click on the photo at left.

 
Guest Special Music

On Sunday, June 25, 2017,  An old friend of the Early's performed the special music at this past Sunday's church service. Brenda Holder sang three very beautiful and moving songs.

BIG Announcement! We're Debt Free!!!!

On Sunday, June 18, 2017, (Which was Father's Day) Brother Ben Early and Treasurer Linda Swift announced that the after 12 years, the $225,000 debt for the Family Life Center had been paid off! At the business meeting, Linda handed out the Monthly Financial Report which also contained a brief history of the mortgage on the Family Life Center. Here are some photos from the service and the business meeting. This is truly a momentous occasion for the church. Thanks be to God for all He has blessed us with!

 

Vacation Bible School Coming in July

Dover Baptist Church's VBS, "Maker Fun Factory", will be July 10th thru 13th. Ages are 4 yo-6th grade. We will also have a Family Celebration on Sunday July 16th following the worship service. VBS time nightly is 6:15pm to 8:45pm. We are located at 7327 Dover Road. Any questions, please call 502-321-5457.

 

Kentucky Changers Come to Dover Baptist Church

Here are some more photos from the Sunday service on June 11th. There was some good singing and preaching. At the end of the service, Brother Early had the members of the group come up front and be recognized. After church, there was a nice meal provided for the KY Changers in the Family Life Center. There was a LOT of good food and drink. We had a good turnout despite the "White Out." Thanks to everyone who made this day a great success!

Dover Member to Deploy to Middle East

At church on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Brother Early presented Angie White with a gift from the church. Angie is a chaplain in the Kentucky Army National Guard and will be deploying to the Middle East sometime this Summer. Keep Colonel White and her family in your prayers.

 

It's Baby Bottle Time Again

It's baby bottle time again. The bottles will be in foyer this Sunday at church. The bottles are due back at the church on Father's Day (Sunday, June 18th). Money raised goes to help fund A Loving Choice (ALC) in Shelbyville which is a center for women who need pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, peer counseling, parenting classes, material assistance and abortion recovery support. ALC is the best resource in Shelbyville for women who might be considering an abortion. Please help with what you can.

 
Derby Hat Day

Sunday, May 7, 2017 was Derby Hat Day at Dover Baptist Church. A lot of the ladies participated. After church, the ladies participated in a group shot at the front steps of the church. Here are some pics from the service.

 
The New Playground Equipment is Finished!

The new playground was officially open for business after church on Sunday April, 23, 2017. It looks like the kids approve! Great work by all those who participated in getting this done!

Easter 2017

Easter Service 2017 at Dover Baptist Church. We had over 70 in attendance and had a beautiful day to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We also had some great soloist (Kelli Carper and Lily Drury) Here are some photographs from the service.

 

"Eggstravaganza" 2017

 

The church held their annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15, 2017.   Attendance was down a bit but the kids that did show up had a great time! Calloway was the winner who in guessing the number of peeps in the jar. A basket of goodies was the prize for the winner. Good Friday Service 2017

 

Here are some photos from our Good Friday Service. The service was entitled, "Remember Me." There was singing by the choir and soloists along with The Lord's Supper and a candle lighting. If you missed this, you missed a great service and tribute to Our Lord Jesus Christ who died to save us all! The last pic shows our new playground equipment which is almost ready to go!


 

Work Day Spring 2017

The volunteers were blessed with a gorgeous day for Work Day. Basically a day for Spring cleaning the church in preparation for Easter. A variety of chores were undertaken and afterwards, everyone shared a nice lunch in the Family Life Center. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to help beautify God's House. Annie Armstrong Goal "Crushed!"

On Sunday morning , April 2nd, 2107, Brother Ben Early presented Barbara Sue Doyle a golden egg for the WMUs efforts in this year's Annie Armstrong offering. Our church's goal this year was $1200. As of April 9th, we have collected $1345. Barbara Sue ran out of room on her tracking poster for all the eggs the good people had Dover Baptist had made appear by their donations. Great job everyone who dug deep and gave for home missions!

Wayne and Barbara Myers Answer the Call

Dover Baptist Church will be losing three members in March. Brother Wayne Myers and his wife Barbara  have been called to the ministry at a Baptist Church in Frenchburg, Kentucky.  They along with Barbara's mother, Shirley Carpenter, will be moving the weekend of March 17th-18th.  After many years in Swaziland as missionaries, the Myers' will now be part of the North American mission that our church participates in, bringing others to Christ Jesus here in the USA. We wish them well in this, their latest mission calling from The Lord. We will miss them!

 
Family Life Center Reaches Milestone

At the business meeting held on Sunday, March 12, 2017, it was announced by church treasurer, Linda Swift, that the balance on the loan for the Family Life Center (FLC) is below the $8,000 mark. Thanks to all those who over the years have made the sacrifices necessary for this building to erected. It won't be long now..... Praise The Lord!!!!  

 
VBS Dates Set, Volunteers Needed!

The dates for this year's Vacation Bible School have been set.  It will be held July the10th through the 13th in the evening.  Volunteers and supplies are desperately needed!  If you would like to help in some form or fashion, please contact Vicki Anderson as soon as possible. We need men volunteers as well as women and youth. 

 
It is Annie Armstrong Time Again!

It's that time of year again. Annie Armstrong Easter Offering time. The money given to Annie Armstrong goes towards supporting the more than 5,000 missionaries in North America. Our donation goal this year is $1200. An egg will show up on the board for each $100 given. Based on this photo from Sunday, March 12th, we are half way to our goal!

WMU Puts Together Goodies for Others

As part of our Jail Ministry visits, it became known to Bro. Early and Vernon Bebout that some of the jail staff could really use a helping hand. They perform a vital service but are paid very poorly. The WMU decided to make goodie bags for the guards with donations provided by members of the church. Here are some pics of the creation of said bags. The ladies were able to make 43 bags for them. They also made a goodie box for Matt Anderson who is serving our country overseas with the air force and for Hannah Carper who is away at college. Youth Sunday and Potato Bar

The Youth sang at church on Sunday, February 4, 2017 and afterwards held a Potato Bar in the Family Life Center to raise money for the building fund. There was no charge for the lunch only a donation if you chose to. To see more of what went on, click on the photo.

 
Dover Featured on Calendar

At church Sunday, January 29, 2017, Brother Early announced that the art department at Collins High School is selling calendars for $10 to raise money for the department. The calendars feature renderings of local churches. Dover Baptist is featured prominently several times in the calendar.

 
January 5th Sunday Sing

On Sunday evening, January 29th, 2017 the 5th Sunday Sing was held at Burk's Branch Baptist Church. Dover's choir and several members participated in the event on a cold Sunday night. After some great singing and music, everyone was treated to a potluck dinner in the basement of the church. To see more of what went on, click on the photo at left.
