Operation Christmas ChildPlease donate to Operation Christmas Child and help a child learn what Christmas is all about. (Updated!!! with photos! See below)

Join with us this Christmas to help out with Operation Christmas Child. Since 1993, more than 113 million children around the world, have received a shoebox filled with items they desperately need. These shoeboxes may change their lives forever and wouldn't you want to be a part of that?

In the Family Life Center (FLC) you will find empty shoeboxes and instructions on how to pack them. If you have any questions about this, you can contact Kelli Carper or visit the Operation Christmas Child website at http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child

You can choose a boy or a girl to give your box to or pack one for each. Take your children with you when you go shopping for them which will add to the fun. By doing this, we are helping fulfill the Great Commission to go out into the world and spread The Word to everyone.

Each shoebox will cost you $7 to mail. As you pack your shoebox(es) pray for those children who will receive them to find Christ. On Sunday, November 16th, we will have a Shoebox March, during the morning worship service. Everyone will bring their boxes and place them at the altar where the congregation will pray for them and their recipients. Please join us in this new opportunity to share a little of the blessings that we all have with those less fortunate around the world.

Early Reflections

From "The Messenger" Newsletter Issue 6, October, November, December

How good it is to be appreciated! It seems as if so often we fail to let individuals know how thankful we are for them. I recall the account of the healing of 10 lepers found in Luke 12:11-19. The account talks of 10 men, a colony of lepers, lonely and rejected. Yet, when they met Jesus, they were all cured. Yet in the scriptures, the statement is made that only one returned to say, “Thank You.” Ingratitude seems to be a disease which is becoming widespread in epidemic proportions. Not only do we fail to thank and praise others, but we also forget to thank and praise God. (To read the rest, click on the image at left.)

Revival Wrap Up

Dover Baptist Church held a revival from Friday night, September 5th through Sunday night, September 7th. The guest evangelist was Dr. Lynn Worthen who hails from Conway, Arkansas. Dr. Worthen was joined by his lovely wife Mary who provided beautiful vocal and piano performances each night. The music during the revival was led by Bro. Ben Early and the choir was directed by Wayne Miller. The revival was well received by the congregation and we had good attendance at each session. After Sunday morning services, a pot luck dinner and fellowship was held in the Family Life Center. This too was very successful in helping to build a bond between the church and the Worthen's and amongst the church members and visitors themselves. Mary Worthen put on a short concert on Sunday night and was followed by a brief message from Dr. Worthen. Everyone that attended the revival was blessed by getting to know this fine Christian family. This was truly a revival of the spirit in the church and although we did not have any new Christians come forward, this service provided a real kick start for those already saved. After the Laying on of Hands, Brother Early presented Jamie with a commemorative ordination certificate and a Bible. July 4th Extravaganza at Dover Baptist Church

Click here to see some more photos.Sunday morning, July 6th, Dover Baptist Church celebrated our country's Independence Day with a Fourth of July Extravaganza! The service began with service members walking in and presenting the colors. They then stood in front of the church congregation and were recognized. The congregation recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Patriotic songs were sung by all including, "The Star Spangled Banner", "America the Beautiful", "My Country Tis of Thee", and the "Battle Hymn of the Republic". Jessie Poe sang "God Bless the USA". The song of each branch of military service was played and those who served or have family members who serve/served were encouraged to stand when their branch's song was played. Brother Early also had a very powerful sermon on how our country needs to move back in the direction that made it great. Back towards God. The service concluded with the singing of "Sweet, Sweet Spirit." We are so blessed to live in this country that allows us to worship God without fear or retribution. On Sunday evening, June 29th, Dover Baptist Church put on an old fashioned Baptist hymn sing. The choir sang several songs and there were also several soloists and a duet. The men's chorus also sang. The Hymn Sing took the place of normal Sunday Sing held on month's with a fifth Sunday. Burks Branch had to cancel out due to scheduling conflicts so Dover Baptist decided to press on and have the hymn sing. Based on the congregations response, it was a big hit!
